Medical Disclaimer

Effective date: July 10, 2026 · Last reviewed: July 10, 2026

This Medical Disclaimer applies to losaltosneurology.com and to public educational content made available by Los Altos Neurology through the website, including articles, graphics, videos, downloadable materials, newsletters, and public comments or social-media content embedded on the website (collectively, the “Site”).

General educational information only. Site content is not individualized medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, a recommendation for a particular test or therapy, or informed consent.

Medical emergency: Do not use this Site, a contact form, ordinary email, comments, a newsletter reply, or an appointment request for an emergency or urgent medical concern. In the United States, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department when immediate care may be needed.

1. Not a Substitute for Professional Medical Care

Medical information on the Site is intended to support general education and informed discussion with a qualified healthcare professional. It is not a substitute for a personal medical history, examination, review of records, diagnostic testing, professional judgment, or an individualized treatment plan.

Do not rely on the Site to diagnose a condition, determine treatment eligibility, interpret a personal test result, or decide whether a symptom is serious. Do not disregard or delay professional medical advice, or start, stop, delay, or change a medication, test, procedure, supplement, device, or treatment, because of something read on the Site.

2. Not Informed Consent and Not a Statement of the Standard of Care

Site content cannot include every potential benefit, risk, alternative, uncertainty, contraindication, interaction, monitoring requirement, or individual consideration relevant to a healthcare decision. It does not replace the detailed informed-consent discussion between a patient and a qualified clinician.

Educational content is not intended to establish a legal or clinical standard of care. Appropriate care depends on the circumstances of the individual patient, current evidence, applicable law, clinical judgment, available resources, and other factors.

3. No Physician–Patient Relationship Created by Site Use Alone

Accessing the Site, reading or downloading content, subscribing to communications, posting a comment, sending an inquiry, joining a waitlist, requesting an appointment, or receiving an automated response does not, by itself, create a physician–patient relationship with Los Altos Neurology or any clinician.

If you are an established patient, this Disclaimer does not terminate or alter that relationship. Public Site content is nevertheless not a substitute for instructions specifically provided by your treating clinician. Use the designated patient portal or another communication method directed by your clinical team for questions about your care.

4. Electronic Communications Are Not Emergency or Clinical-Care Channels

The Site and public communications are not monitored continuously. Receipt, review, or response by a clinician is not guaranteed. Except for a specifically designated secure patient portal, public contact forms, ordinary email, comments, and newsletter features should not be used for detailed medical information, prescription requests, test-result interpretation, or urgent clinical concerns.

Electronic communications may be delayed, intercepted, misdirected, or accessed by unintended recipients. Submit only information reasonably necessary for the stated purpose and do not send information about another person unless you are legally authorized to do so.

5. Individual Circumstances and Results Vary

A condition, treatment, test, medication, procedure, or outcome described on the Site may not apply to you. Benefits and risks vary according to diagnosis, disease stage, age, genetics, pregnancy status, medical history, medications, imaging, laboratory findings, lifestyle, access to monitoring, and other individual factors.

No outcome is promised or guaranteed. Descriptions of expected benefits, complication rates, response rates, or patient experiences are population-level or individual observations and cannot predict a particular person’s result.

6. Medications, Devices, Tests, Procedures, and Off-Label Uses

References to a medication, medical device, laboratory or imaging test, procedure, manufacturer, or trade name are informational and do not constitute a prescription, endorsement, sponsorship, or recommendation. Product labeling, warnings, availability, regulatory status, and insurance coverage may change after publication.

The Site may discuss investigational therapies or uses that are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for a particular purpose. Such discussion is educational only. A clinician must determine whether any use is lawful, clinically appropriate, and supported for an individual patient.

7. Research and Emerging Evidence

Research findings may be preliminary, incomplete, unpublished, sponsor-reported, conference-reported, based on biomarkers rather than clinical outcomes, drawn from subgroup or post hoc analyses, or derived from open-label or externally controlled studies. These forms of evidence carry different levels of certainty and may not be confirmed in later trials.

Participation in or eligibility for a clinical trial is not guaranteed. Trial criteria, sites, availability, and results may change without notice.

8. Accuracy, Review Dates, and Medical Change

Los Altos Neurology makes reasonable efforts to publish medically grounded, appropriately sourced, and current information. Medicine changes rapidly. Site content may become incomplete, superseded, or outdated after its stated publication or medical-review date and may not reflect later safety communications, regulatory actions, guideline changes, product-label revisions, shortages, coverage decisions, or new evidence.

The Site is not a comprehensive reference and may contain inadvertent errors or omissions. No representation is made that every item is complete, current, or applicable to every person. We may correct, update, replace, or remove content without notice. Readers should verify time-sensitive information with a qualified clinician and authoritative current sources before acting.

9. External Links and Third-Party Content

The Site may link to government agencies, journals, professional organizations, manufacturers, laboratories, patient portals, scheduling platforms, and other third parties. Links are provided for convenience and citation. Los Altos Neurology does not control and is not responsible for third-party content, availability, security, privacy practices, or subsequent changes.

A link, quotation, citation, or reference does not necessarily constitute endorsement. Third-party terms and privacy policies may apply.

10. Testimonials, Cases, Images, and Illustrations

Any testimonial, review, patient story, case description, or outcome reflects an individual experience and does not guarantee or predict another person’s experience. Results vary. Clinical examples may be de-identified, combined, or modified to protect privacy or explain a concept.

Photographs, illustrations, stock images, models, and medical images may be used for educational or design purposes and should not be assumed to depict an actual patient, diagnosis, treatment result, or clinician–patient relationship unless expressly stated.

11. Geographic Scope

The Site is operated from California and primarily discusses healthcare in the United States. Laws, standards, product approvals, prescribing rules, reimbursement, and service availability differ by jurisdiction. Content should not be assumed to describe requirements or options outside the relevant jurisdiction.

12. Website Warranty and Liability Limitations

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AND SOLELY WITH RESPECT TO PUBLIC SITE CONTENT RATHER THAN PROFESSIONAL HEALTHCARE SERVICES, THE SITE AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, MERCHANTABILITY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, SECURITY, OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LOS ALTOS NEUROLOGY AND ITS OWNERS, CLINICIANS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, CONTRIBUTORS, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING SOLELY FROM USE OF OR RELIANCE ON PUBLIC SITE CONTENT, INABILITY TO ACCESS THE SITE, OR THIRD-PARTY LINKS OR SERVICES.

Nothing in this Disclaimer limits duties or liability arising from professional healthcare services or excludes liability for fraud, willful misconduct or injury, violation of law, or any other responsibility or right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

13. Related Terms and Privacy Notices

Use of the Site is also subject to the Terms of Use. Our Website Privacy Statement addresses information collected through the public Site. When Los Altos Neurology handles protected health information as a healthcare provider, the Notice of Privacy Practices applies.
